Thanks for visiting – we are excited to raise geography awareness by sharing a variety of information on the places that we visit and providing updates from the road. The Press is an important partner in getting our message out to as many people as possible.

About Darren and Sandy Van Soye
After 25 years in the IT industry, we took early retirement with the twin goals of seeing the world and giving back.
In 2012 we embarked on a 424-day around-the-world journey to raise geo-literacy in K-12 students. Prior to this trip, we traveled to over 40 countries on six continents, most of it using independently organized itineraries.
Learn more about Darren and Sandy here.
Since that journey, we continue to travel with a commitment to authentic adventures, an active lifestyle, and sustainability. Our U.S. journeys have ranged from backpacking the Arizona Trail, the John Muir Trail, and the entire 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail, to hiking to all 21 California Missions and taking an epic road trip through 27 national parks.
Overseas, we have completed village to village treks in multiple European countries, including a Camino de Santiago route, half of the Via Francigena, and a hiking journey across Switzerland.
This year we will be trekking 340 miles in France, sampling five long-distance GR trails in four distinct locations.
Wherever we trek, we focus on the cultural significance of the region and discover the area’s diverse natural beauty.
